Alpinia caerulea Atherton Red Back Ginger

This rainforest understory plant is red leaved and is native to the Atherton tableland region near Cairns.

This ginger root is versatile and can be used in savoury dishes, desserts, jams, marmalades, candies and tea. It’s blue Berries may be picked and eaten straight off the stem. Suitable for growing in gaps, pots, boarders, narrow poolside beds and mass plantings.
